Finca Nakbé was recently treated to a visit by artist and journalist Esteban Feune de Colombí. His magazine Galera is the epitome of all things cool and, on meeting the man in charge, one understands why. Charming and so laid-back you think he might fall over at any minute, Esteban has plethora of artistic talents and seemed the perfect guest for the beautiful and art inspired Finca Nakbé.
On a scorching Mendozan summer day Esteban was shown around each and every corner of the vineyard and winery with idea that he might be inspired to create something beautiful, something that comes quite easily to him. The unseasonal rains meant that the vineyard looked as lush and green as ever, the flowers beautiful and colourful and the animals fat and healthy.
Esteban’s first port of call was to write one of his increasingly famous Electrocardiopoemas, this is essentially a performance piece but with a tangible result. He listens to his subject’s heart using a doctor’s stethoscope and, inspired by the heartbeat, writes a poem in one long line on ECG graph paper. His ability to create wonderful poetry, on the spot, was quite amazing.
After a lot of sun and some poetry, a delicious lunch was taken in the “Buho,” Finca Nakbé’s experimental biodynamic winery. Picadadas were eaten, wine was drunk and the world put to right.
After a long siesta Esteban avoided the afternoon heat by plastering the walls of the champañera with wonderful illustrations and wacky poems. The black walls were covered in chalk by the end of the day and in a matter of two hours Esteban had converted some plain walls into his very own exhibition.
Esteban proved a fantastic addition the vineyard and will surely be welcome back at any opportunity!
